Home - Who We Are - Ministries - Outreach
The Outreach ministry is NewChurch’s focus on serving others in our community of Georgetown and around the world. We are convinced that as followers of Jesus Christ, we were created and called to be the presence of Christ in the lives of others. To do this, we seek to be very active in making a difference in communities by meeting needs, caring for Creation, and inviting others to be a part of the Kingdom of God.
We partner with other like-minded organizations, churches, and individuals to feed the hungry through events like Celebration of Love and Souper Bowl of Caring, to provide a fun, free experience for Georgetown through Whooville at the annual Christmas Stroll, and to travel to foreign lands to help others abroad at Les Abricot, Haiti and Piedras Negras, Mexico.
Celebration of Love is a non-profit organization that provides food and resources to Central Texas families in crisis.
NewChurch Georgetown is blessed to be able to support the Celebration of Love mission of enhancing the quality of life for families, individuals and the community. By seeking out and providing services that are consistently available, accessible and responsive to the needs of individual families and groups seeking assistance, and to work with the community and volunteers to facilitate and provide these services.
The Christmas Stroll has long been a
tradition in Georgetown when on the first Saturday of December the
Downtown Square is transformed into a holiday festival. NewChurch
celebrated its fifth year as sponsor of a children’s area dubbed
“Whooville.” 2010 brought over 30,000 people out to play and our area was nominated Best Event.
Whooville covers more than two city blocks with every activity and
ride being free to all. Activities include rock walls, a sled hill with
real snow, face painting, putt putt golf, laser tag, fishing pond, and
many more activities for children of all ages. NewChurch is the largest
sponsor of the Christmas Stroll. See our Whooville 2010 photos.
NewChurch partners with Reciprocal
Ministries International through their Sister Church Program. Through
this program, we adopted a small Haitian village on the northwest coast
of Haiti called Les Abricot.
We travel to the village every 12 to 18
months and both minister to and receive ministry from the people of the
village. We work with the local pastor and church to provide
experiences like a children’s festival, a ladies’ tea, and to provide
electricity, sound system and fans to the local church. Through the
“Hope for Kids” program, NewChurch has sent over 25 children to school
for several years by providing clothes, shoes, and school supplies.
The Yadav people group is one of the largest unreached people groups of the world ... 57 million people. Scattered all over India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Most of them die never hearing the Gospel even once in a lifetime.
