In the past, people spent a great deal of time on a front porch visiting with neighbors, friends, and family. It was a place for relationships to develop, people to be at ease, and to share life together. Our Front Porches play a huge part in helping NewChurch meet its goal to be a missional (active, outward looking, others-focused) community. The goal of this community should be to replicate Jesus’ ministry while He was on Earth. Interested?!?! Want to know more!?!?! Engaging – The Next Christians by Gabe Lyons When they meet: Tuesday Evenings with Don Brown Where I would go: At the home of Alan and Kelly Blyton, 7733 Buck Meadow Dr., Gtown, 78628 Time: 7:00pm Brief Description: In The Next Christians, Lyons disarms readers by speaking as a candid observer rather than a cultural crusader. Where other people shout, Lyons speaks in a measured tone, offering helpful analysis of our current reality while casting a vision for how to be a Christian in a world disenchanted with the faith. Both a celebration and a reckoning, The Next Christians combines current-day models and relevant research with stories of a new generation of Christian leaders. If you are worried by what your see transpiring around you, this book will take you on a surprising social exploration in hopes that you too will restore confidence in your faith.
